Field Interviewer

Aging & Disabilities – Denver, Colorado
Department Aging & Disabilities
Employment Type Part-Time
Minimum Experience Entry-level
Compensation $20 /hr. (work time)

Vital Research is seeking Field Interviewers throughout the state of Colorado who can serve as exceptional additions to our team. Field Interviewers complete face-to-face interviews with older adults or individuals who have a physical and/or developmental disability. This is a 4-month project beginning mid-January 2019 and ending in May 2019 (or until 1,500 interviews have been completed across the state). Once Field Interviewers successfully complete training, they become part of a team of 30 to 32 individuals responsible for interviewing throughout Colorado.

Colorado is participating in the National Core Indicators-Aging and Disabilities (NCI-AD) and National Core Indicators-Developmental Disabilities (NCI-DD), which is a voluntary effort to assess and monitor quality of life and outcomes for individuals receiving services and support from state-funded programs. Becoming a Field Interviewer for the 2018-2019 NCI Project is a way to give individuals a voice in the future of aging and disability services in Colorado.

Trained Field Interviewers schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with older adults and persons with disabilities in their home. Interviewers:

  • Call potential participants/guardians to schedule interviews
  • Organize and manage own interview schedule
  • Conduct a minimum of 10 face-to-face interviews per week, each lasting 30-45 minutes
  • Download and print one-page assignment sheets for up to 200 participants from a secure file-sharing website using a personal printer (publicly accessed printers are not allowed)
  • Administer and record interview responses accurately using a provided tablet computer
  • Upload completed interviews and other updates daily using a secure WiFi connection
  • Comply with confidentiality, federal HIPAA regulations
  • Adhere to data security requirements, including current anti-virus and malware protection software, and performance of data security checks
  • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly conference calls

Requirements

Field Interviewers should be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and display a willingness to learn. In addition to attending and passing a mandatory three-day, paid training in Denver from January 23-25, 2019, the following requirements must be met:

  • Ability to pass a criminal background and driving record check
  • Experience interacting with persons who are aging or have a disability in a work, volunteer, or personal environment

  • Read, type, and record responses accurately on a handheld tablet computer
  • Flexibility to work independently and schedule interviews within a set timeline
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver license/automobile insurance
  • Business casual dress (no denim, shorts, t-shirts, or open-toed shoes)
